On today’s episode, we’re talking about how to attract millennial homebuyers through your real estate marketing.
Be sure to tune into the episode take a deeper look at who is your millennial homebuyer, what are they looking for, and some solid strategies to connect with them. Because before you can market to them, it’s important to understand where they’re coming from. This is juicy content that will give you the edge when it comes to your real estate marketing.
Now, I love today’s topic because it’s essentially a form of target marketing. This allows you to not only speak directly to them but also to provide them with the level of service they’re looking for. Because after all, great marketing, no matter who you are targeting, comes from a place of providing value.
Tip 1: Leverage Content Marketing
Content marketing is essentially providing value in the form of information online.
Connecting with millennials isn’t all about having that perfectly styled Instagram feed. It starts with trust, just like it would with any other buyer. You can connect by educating them on the real estate process and demonstrating that you are the local real estate guide that they need to help them. This could be in the form of a blog or better yet a video!
By guiding them through the home buying process, you’re not only providing value, but you’re also starting to form a connection with that potential buyer.
You’re making the process easier for them by preparing them with information. You’re also helping turn them into a confident first-time homebuyer. Being on their side and guiding them the process is a natural progression of the relationship and not just a sales tactic.
In Orlando, we have a lot of new construction, and I know personally a lot of my millennial friends who are trading lives in the trendier downtown areas for the suburbs. They are drawn to the lifestyle and aesthetics of new co communities. In this example, a piece of valuable content could be about the advantages of working with a REALTOR® when buying new construction in these popular new communities.
But how are the potential homebuyers going to find your content? We’ve got to share it!
I’m sure you took some time to come up with your engaging content and you genuinely care about helping those millennial homebuyers. So, don’t be afraid to let that sentiment show!
So when you are sharing it, consider what you could say to get more people to click on it or be motivated to share it themselves.
You might say - “Hey guys! You might not know this, but I’m super passionate about helping younger homebuyers on their road to homeownership. So, I took some time this weekend to create this comprehensive guide for them here in the Orlando area. This will give them a good idea of what to expect so they can start planning and make informed decisions in our local market. If you know somebody who you think could use this, please consider sharing it with them! It’s my goal to see new homebuyers avoid as many mistakes as possible and experience the excitement and pride of homeownership.”

Create multiple versions of what you’re sharing
A pro tip would be to make multiple forms of creative to promote your content. What does this mean? Basically, you want several images, graphics, or media so that you can continue to catch people’s attention.
Tip 2: Make Your Social Media Appealing to Millennials
Don’t feel like you have to do everything or nothing when it comes to social media. It’s so easy to get caught up in wanting your feed to look perfect or feeling overwhelmed about where to start.
You need to pick at least one social site and commit. I personally feel that Instagram is the best place to establish a personal brand in a way that lets you tell your story while connecting to Millennials. I also think that youtube is a huge opportunity that’s often overlooked.
Whatever you share, it is a representation of you and your branding and what you share should match your general aesthetic.
Despite being a generation that prides itself on being “authentic,” Millennials are attracted to a bit of polish as well.
What should you share?

Millennials are looking to engage and develop relationships. If you don’t share who you are, then they won’t start forming that connection with you online. So, don’t be afraid to put yourself out there!
Tip 3: Highlight the Experience of Working With You
We want to highlight the experience of working with you but in a modern way.
Interestingly, “Seventy-eight percent of Millennials would choose to spend money on a desirable experience over buying something that is desirable. They are all about creating, sharing, and capturing memories.” In a nutshell, they are all about the experience. And providing great service, like I know you do, is part of that experience.
There are some authentic and fun ways to do this! If you’re currently working with a millennial you could document the process through mini-videos or photos to share on social. This is the perfect content for Instagram Stories!
Keep in mind, today’s review culture.
People are still looking for professionalism and service. So, make sure you shine up the professional aspects of yourself online. This includes making sure your profiles are up to date and you have reviews on all the search sites like Zillow, Trulia, and Realtor.com.
Make it easy for people to read reviews about you on your website as well. Better yet, a review is another great piece of content to share on social!
To Sum It Up
Millennials are buying real estate out of the desire to simply own a home - it’s the classic American dream. And no matter the age of a person, the differences in generations, I think this sentiment something that we can all relate to.
Whether you’re attracting millennials through content marketing, your social media presence, or by showing off what their experience would be like, I have no doubt that you’ll be able to start forming relationships and helping a whole new age of homebuyers and sellers.
