Interest Rates and Headlines

💬 Real talk. It can be frustrating to look at today’s rates and feel like you missed out on timing the market.
And I can completely understand where you’re coming from - especially if you have a low rate on your current mortgage and you don’t know if you should sell and buy 🤔
Or you might be comparing rates today to rates not too long ago.
But there are a few important aspects of rates to keep in mind.
⚪ The mortgage rates experienced in 2020 and 2021 were historically low and also impacted by the actions of the Federal Reserve during the pandemic.
⚪ Waiting for 3% interest rates to appear again might not happen anytime in the near future.
⚪ While it might not be much consolation to know that rates in the 1980s were in the teens, know this - rates in the fall of 2018 were close to 5% (according to Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey data).
So, what are we seeing for the future?
Realtor.com economist Jiayi Xu shared that “[W]e expect a gradual decline that could bring rates near 6% by year-end” for 2023.
I also suggest we look at all of the data when making decisions, such as monthly mortgage payments and the potential appreciation of home values and equity gain through ownership.
But this is a conversation that we can explore much deeper. So please reach out to me to learn more about rates and how they might impact your real estate decisions.
