Autumn Assets: Planning Your Realtor Content Shoot for Fall Social

Grab that pumpkin spice latte and get into a cozy mindset - it's time for seasonal marketing!

I'll admit, I'm not somebody who's rushing to HomeGoods to change out my decor or in-line at Starbucks the day PSLs hit.

Instead, I'm all about getting the jump on strategic marketing and tapping into the appeal of the holiday season.

Fall-themed real estate content on social is not only trending, it works in your reels, posts, carousels, and more.

The secret, though, is to personalize this content with photos and videos of you.

So, in today's episode, let's plan an easy fall content shoot for you as a REALTOR®!

I might live in Florida, but everywhere I look, the fall seasons is here!

My neighbors have proudly hung college football flags on their porches (Go Noles!), and there are pumpkins, mums, and fall wreaths by their front doors.

People enjoy the spirit of the holidays, and this is an opportunity for you to breathe some fresh life into your marketing as well. And to keep your content on social relevant and timely, I recommend scheduling seasonal content shoots to get images and b-roll video of yourself.

Plan Ahead: Why a Seasonal Content Shoot is a Must for Every REALTOR®

When you're posting on social, every image and video clip is an opportunity to connect with potential customers and your sphere.

This is especially true in the fall. You benefit from -

  • The Emotional Appeal: Autumn has a unique way of evoking fond memories and favorite traditions. Seasonal content paints a picture of warmth, family gatherings, and cozy evenings.

  • Social Trends: Fall is trending on social! So, if you want more people to see you and your content, a fall theme will help you expand your reach and remain relevant.

  • Memorable Personal Branding: Sharing your favorites, exploring your community this season, and sharing local tips all establish you as a relatable local expert.

That's why it pays to take time to get photos and videos of yourself. By being intentional, you can use this content throughout your marketing.

Where to Use Fall Content on Social

Curating a collection of themed images and videos of yourself is a timesaver for your marketing. You'll always have something to share that's relevant and creative.

To get you going, here are three ideas to put your themed content to use:

  • Creating B-Roll for Instagram Reels: One of my favorite Instagram hacks is to use b-roll for easy reels. B-roll is essentially video footage where you're not talking or even looking at the camera. You could be working at your desk or staging a home. Then, add text and trending audio to this b-roll to create a reel. You can take this concept and give it a fall spin to create your reels more quickly and have them be even more timely by staging your b-roll to be seasonal!

  • Customizing Social Media Templates: Again, get more people to take notice of what you're sharing by including seasonal photos of yourself in templates! Switch out your headshot with a photo of you in fall clothes or working at a desk by a fire. Sharing community events? Include a photo of yourself at a pumpkin patch or holding a pumpkin to make your content more impactful.

  • In The Marketing Suite, during the holiday season, we make sure to provide our community with lots of creative templates they can customize and make their own for the holiday season. For example, we have posts like "Where Home Buying Meets Apple Picking: A Quick Guide to Choosing the One" and "As We Enter the 'Ber Months, Where Do You Fit in The Holiday Spectrum?" Posts like these can be personalized with autumn-inspired images of you!

  • Sharing Images & Videos as Posts: Want to create a reel? Share a photo of yourself? Talk about something going on in real estate? Make your content jump out on social by leaning into a fall theme. People are much more likely to notice a new photo of you in your latest fall look, sipping a hot coffee, while you stand by a front door decorated for fall than they would just a basic image of you smiling. This content pops!

Once you have your themed photos and videos, you can do so much with them on social and throughout your marketing. But before you can use them, you have to take them!

Planning Your Fall REALTOR® Content Shoot

Planning your fall REALTOR® content shoot doesn't have to be complicated!

In fact, a fall content shoot is basically setting aside time to take themed photos and videos of yourself. That's it!

It doesn't mean you have to invest in fancy photography equipment or spend hours creating tedious content. There are 5 basic steps to the process:

  1. Schedule Your Shoot: Put time on your calendar when you'll take seasonal images and videos of yourself. You can use a tripod or enlist the help of a friend. I'd recommend setting aside 2-hours.

  2. Plan Your Poses & Any Props: Save yourself any awkwardness or wasted time by planning out your shoot ahead of time. Is there a park you want to go to? Do you want to take some photos by your front door but need to decorate for fall? (Need help with content and poses? Get my free list of 50 ideas!)

  3. Take Your Photos & Videos: Take photos and, at the same time, get "candid" videos of yourself doing the same poses and actions for b-roll.

  4. Organized, Edit & Upload: Don't let this great content get lost in your camera's photo roll. Set aside time to go through the content and make any edits. I'd also recommend uploading your content to Canva right away so you can easily use it in any social posts & reels templates (like we have in The Marketing Suite)!

  5. Share! Get that fall goodness out into the world by incorporating it into your social posts.

Now, I know that many agents struggle with steps 2 and 3. You want fall-inspired content but you're not really sure what to do. Here are some ideas and poses that make it even easier for you -

Fall Content Ideas & Poses for Real Estate

Staging a fall shoot doesn't mean you just have to stand around awkwardly, unsure of what to do.

Let your personality shine through with some of these ideas:

Idea 1 - PSL Moments: Nothing says autumn more than a cozy drink. Picture this: you, in your perfectly staged kitchen, sipping that PSL, wearing a chunky sweater. You could use this image for social posts discussing real estate trends or even home decor for the seasons. It's casual and festive yet can be used professionally.

Idea 2 - Cozy Work Settings: Even when you're behind the screen, you can capture the autumn vibe. Think a small pumpkin on your desk, soft lighting in the background, and you engrossed in work. It illustrates dedication with a touch of seasonal charm.

Idea 3 - Front Door Festivities: Showcase the allure of an inviting home entrance during the fall. Imagine you're adjusting a beautiful wreath of autumn leaves or setting up pumpkins and mums on the porch steps. This image paints a warm welcome, perfect for discussing curb appeal or even tips for buyers and sellers in today's market.

Those three ideas might get you thinking, but I have 50 more ideas for poses and props that you can use across four categories -

  • Lifestyle & Home: These are poses that tie into life at home and can be used throughout your content, whether you're talking about home decor or selling during the fall.

  • Community: These ideas are designed to get you out and about in your community. This further brands yourself locally and works well to capture your sphere's attention as well.

  • REALTOR® Life: Think BTS of real estate - whether you're hosting an open house or preparing a listing presentation, we're giving it a fall spin for your content!

  • At the Office: Photos and videos of you working on the computer or at a desk can be used in so many ways throughout your content that we're pulling out this category especially to make sure you have plenty of ideas for it!

Seasonal Content in Your Marketing Strategy

While it can be fun to stage a home with fall decor or to imagine going to the pumpkin patch, don't forget that this content can help you reach more people. Those people could be a potential home buyer or seller that's looking for the right agent. Or you could be using this type of content to relate to your sphere more and keep them engaged with content they enjoy as well.

An autumn content shoot for real estate is more than a fun fall activity. It's a strategic tool.

So, grab your camera and tripod (or an agent accountability buddy), plan that shoot, and let's embrace the season with marketing that works!
