Short-form videos, like Instagram Reels or TikToks, can be some of the most effective forms of social media marketing today. But how can you most efficiently create this kind of strategic content? I'm sharing my three favorite apps to help you do just that! These are the apps I personally use to edit videos, add captions, and DIY my video content for professional results!

The App: CapCut
Why I recommend it: It offers features including a teleprompter and the ability to edit clips. Plus, you can add captions, filters, effects, and even record in the app to easily reshare your edited content to multiple platforms!

The App: Captions
Why I recommend it: This app allows you to add interesting, engaging captions and even captions with emojis! It's very accurate and very visually appealing, which makes your content more entertaining on social.

The App: Canva
Why I recommend it: Canva allows you to make easy edits & overlays like graphics. In fact, in my exclusive marketing membership for Realtors, The Marketing Suite, I provide members with customizable Reel templates each month that are editable right within Canva!

I also recommend upgrading to Canva Pro if you can - it opens up a lot more features within the app! Click here to learn more about Canva pro and try it for free

Creating short-form videos like Instagram Reels or TikToks can be a quick way to connect with your audience, but let’s face it—editing them often feels anything but quick! From stitching clips together to adding captions and effects, the process can become overwhelming. But don’t worry—there are tools out there that make video editing a breeze. In this blog, we’ll explore three incredible apps you can use to save time and still produce professional-looking results.

The Struggle Is Real, but Help Is Here

Short-form videos are designed to be snappy and engaging, but editing them can take hours. You’ve got to piece together clips, add captions, and maybe throw in a fun graphic or emoji for good measure. It’s a lot! If that sounds like your experience, you’re in the right place. I’ve rounded up three apps that I personally use to streamline my workflow and still keep my content looking polished.

    App 1: CapCut

Let’s start with CapCut—a powerful tool that’s earned its place as my go-to app for editing. Whether you need to merge clips, add captions, or even use a teleprompter feature (yes, it has one!), CapCut does it all. Plus, it allows you to record directly within the app.

One of my favorite things about CapCut is how it helps with repurposing content. For example, if you edit a video in Instagram and download it, you’re stuck with the Instagram logo, which isn’t ideal for sharing on TikTok or Pinterest. With CapCut, that’s not a problem. Edit your videos watermark-free and repurpose them across platforms effortlessly.

    Features you’ll love:

    • Combine multiple clips.

    • Use effects like filters.

    • Export without watermarks.

    • Teleprompter function for flawless delivery.

Oh, and did I mention it’s free? That’s right—CapCut is packed with value at no cost.

    App 2: Captions

If you’ve ever scrolled through a Reel or TikTok and noticed eye-catching captions that highlight specific words or include emojis, chances are they were created with the Captions app. This app is a game-changer, especially for videos where you’re talking for a while.

Why are captions so important? Well, not everyone listens with the audio on. Captions not only make your video accessible but also more engaging. With the Captions app, you can customize the colors, choose which emojis pop up, and make your text match your brand.

    A few things to note:

    • Captions costs about $10 a month.

    • If that’s outside your budget, CapCut also offers a free captioning feature.

    App 3: Canva

You probably know Canva as a graphic design tool, but did you know it’s also a handy option for video editing? While it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of apps like CapCut, it’s perfect for quick edits and adding overlays like text or graphics.

I use Canva for editing short-form videos for the Marketing Suite, where agents can download and customize ready-to-share Reels. If you’re already familiar with Canva for other design projects, this could be a great place to start for video content, too.

    Pro tips for Canva users:

    • Upgrade to Canva Pro for more features.

    • Try editing on the desktop version—it’s much easier than working on your phone.

    Bringing It All Together

If you’re ready to make editing faster and easier, give these apps a try. Here’s a quick recap:

    1. CapCut: Free, versatile, and perfect for combining clips and adding effects.

    2. Captions: Adds dynamic captions to boost engagement (subscription required).

    3. Canva: Ideal for quick edits and adding branded overlays.

No matter which app you choose, the goal is to simplify the editing process so you can spend more time creating and less time stressing.
